• Join our evolving and challenging world and you’ll be best placed to get your career off to an extraordinary start.

We’re a hard working and down-to-earth organisation which thrives on fresh ideas and insights, so if you’re looking to make an impact right from the start of your career, you should be right at home.

Our materials business manufactures and distributes thousands of products used by big business in the mining and construction industries, and many other segments too. It’s also an exciting time to join our expanding mining business in Whyalla and South Australia which is exploring Greenfield opportunities and enjoying continued export growth.

Our apprenticeships have been designed to offer you a supportive environment which will support your formal learning while stretching and developing your skills to get the most out of you.

You’ll learn to problem solve and think abstractly, influence, innovate and work as part of a successful team. If you’re motivated by pace and variety, expect nothing less from our world.

    • Steel is essential to the world. It’s fundamental to the roads we drive on, the houses we live in and the buildings we work in. Across our portfolio of related materials businesses, we manufacture and distribute steel products, recycle steel and produce mining consumables and grinding media.

We do a lot more than steel though and are now a tier 2 iron mining company with growing operations in Whyalla and South Australia.

As a company that prides itself on spotting opportunities, we are always looking for new ventures to diversify our offering, our customer base and our ability to deliver.

    • We know, and our apprentices tell us, that it's the balance between working and learning that will really give you the edge. When you're not at TAFE learning the technicalities of your trade, you'll be on site putting your learning into practise with heavy machinery and equipment. You’ll have space to balance both study and work.

At times, you'll be challenged and stretched, but you'll find it's the best way to develop and learn. During the program, you'll be able to draw upon the experience of your team and have the guidance of your manager to make sure your career starts in the best way.

At the end of your apprenticeship you’ll be a fully qualified tradesperson and if you have the desire can progress into other opportunities like supervision, or understanding degree studies.

    • Our locations offer great work/life balance with convenient study locations. So whether you're in Newcastle NSW or Whyalla SA, you can make the most of all the opportunities you'll be presented with.

    • We typically offer apprenticeships as a mechanical fitter, electrician, boilermaker or fabricator. To be able to make the most of one of these opportunities, you should have completed year 11 or higher and, ideally, have completed the Apprentice Pathways Program.

    • To be eligible, you'll need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Depending on the role and location, you may be required to have completed specific subjects at school or TAFE. Please click through to view available Apprenticeships and read the specific eligibility requirements for these roles on the job advertisement.
